EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN

Dr Rene Williamson is a Management Consultant and Chemical/Biomedical Engineering professional with more than 14 years’ experience in teaching and scientific research at some of the world’s most elite universities. In his role as Principal & Director of Business Development for BHA, Dr Williamson assesses the value potential of each opportunity and the human resource needs of the clients. A keen educator, Dr Williamson is the founder of the charitable organization, Shashamane Sunrise which serves some 4100 students from rural and inner city communities in six countries in Africa & the Caribbean. The organization draws its support from corporations and individuals (including several influential supporters) in a variety of professions and industries. Dr Williamson is the lead consultant in the non-profit sector advising non-profit boards and leaders on their corporate structure and helping them to reach and exceed their fundraising goals through multiple revenue streams. Dr Williamson is a financial supporter of Charity Water, The Clinton Foundation and he is an Advisory Board member for the Urban League of Southern CT, Young Professionals Group (ULSCT-YPG). Dr Williamson has BA/MEng/MA degrees in Chemical Engineering from Cambridge University – Prof John Davidson Advisor, a MSc in Engineering & Applied Science from Yale – Advisor Prof Bob Apfel and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Yale (Prof Mark Saltzman). He also completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship at NYU School of Medicine in Biomolecular Imaging and nanomaterials under the supervision of Dr Daniel Turnbull.

Vice Chair

Julian Hall (also known as “The Online Genius”) is an award winning digital marketer who lives and breathes social media, search, the internet and all things digital. Julian is an expert in all aspects of online marketing including social media, search, email, usability and development. In the last 14 years he’s consulted for companies big and small, from boot strapped start-ups to investment banks. His client have come from all sectors including but not limited to technology, food tech, education, biotech, finance, fintech, entertainment and non-profits. Julian specializes in helping companies big and small to meet and exceed their revenue targets using digital strategies that work. An international speaker; Julian travels the globe delivering seminars around social media, innovation, entrepreneurship and the internet. Julian aslo coaches entrepreneurs, executives and CEO’s at the Genius Academy. He is also a mentor to young entrepreneurs who have gone on to win awards in their own right. Julian also teaches in schools and colleges and he has lectured at several universities internationally. Julian is currently the Chairman and CEO of the Hall Group of Companies in London, UK. His company has been awarded UK’s Most Innovative Internet. He was selected to mentor the UK’s Young Entrepreneur Of The Year in 2010, and he launched the UK’s first 100% user generated news channel – YouReportTV.com. Julian is also ambassador for the Richard Branson’s Virgin Pioneer Program, as well as a popular columnist in the Voice Newspaper and a representative to the Jamaican High Commission and the UK Diaspora Youth Association. Prior to his directorships and position as Chairman of The Hall Business Group, he consulted in the City of London for major financial corporations, such as Morgan Stanley, Société Générale, Schroder, Schlumberger Sema, Siemens & General Electric. Julian is also an accomplished author his latest book, The Ultrapreneur is an Amazon Best Seller. He also authored The 10 Secrets of Social Media.

Operations

Kandyce Rochae Samuels is an Executive Assistant at Broad Haven Associates. Kandyce’s   areas of expertise include time management, logistics, social media marketing and promotions and operational efficiency. Kandyce also serves in several client facing and investor facing roles. Kandyce’s background is in fashion having appeared in several fashion shows locally and in print media and Ad campaigns. Kandyce also worked in the Life Insurance and Consumer Goods sectors performing various sales roles. Kandyce is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Logistics.

Treasurer

Kenny Green is the Chief Financial Officer of Broad Haven Associates. He also serves as the Founder and CEO of GRI Consultants a Financial Consulting Firm whose clients include Alicia Keys’s Mama Mae App and Credit Agricole CIB. Prior to joining BHA Kenny was a Project and Innovation Controller for Lonza Microbial Control, biotech & specialty chemicals company with revenues of about USD$5B.  He led projects resulting from the financial integration of Arch Chemicals ($2B) and Lonza. Kenny was the financial lead of the Research & Development division where he ensured that their R&D projections have financial integrity. He was also responsible for ensuring that all projects from concept to commercialization have economic value added (EVA). Through alignment of key processes and roles Kenny led the financial integration of a newly acquired chemicals company achieving cost savings of USD$25M. Kenny has vast experience in accounting, having also worked as the Global Financial Reporting and Accounting Manager at Arch Chemicals in their Connecticut and Georgia offices. During that time his tasks included overseeing monthly financial close and financial reporting process, evaluating the company’s financial data to prepare forecasts of all aspects of the company’s operations, preparing monthly variance analysis and providing reports directly to the Vice President of Finance and the General Manager. In his role as Senior Internal Auditor at a large commercial equipment rentals company, United Rentals, Kenny helped the company to centralize its accounts payable functions leading to savings of USD$10M annually. He accomplished this be helping the firm develop their Sarbanes-Oxley (S-Ox) compliance programs.  S-Ox is a United States Federal Law, which set new or enhanced standards for all U.S. public company boards, management and public accounting firms. He also scheduled engagements and oversaw Sox compliance engagements. During his tenure at Pitney Bowes Kenny worked with Business Process Owners in their evaluation and documentation of internal controls in connection with company’s compliance efforts relating to Sarbanes-Oxley.  He also conducted and supervised audit assignments and performed tests and other review procedures to adequately examine business controls and identify areas of weakness or risk. His other work experiences included that of Senior Financial Analyst at Pratt and Whitney in 2001-2003 and Senior Auditor at the Assurance Services Department at Arthur Andersen from 1998-2001. Kenny has a long history of involvement in charities. He has worked as a literacy volunteer at the Childcare Learning Centers in the capacity of a Board Member, as well as with the Sesame Street Literacy Volunteer Programme and the Chester Addison Mentoring Program. He is also a Board Member for children’s non-profit Shashamane Sunrise. Kenny has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Wesleyan University in 1998 and a Master of Science in Professional Accounting in 1999. He is currently pursuing the CPA qualification.

PR & Communications

Edgar O Lewis is a career journalist with over fourteen years in TV and print journalism. He is well respected among his peers for his creativity and appetite for truth and unbiased reporting. Edgar has covered numerous stories from the battle torn streets of Kingston and other volatile areas in Jamaica. He, however, has a penchant for human interest stories, which he covered extensively at both Television Jamaica and CVM Television, where he started his career. Edgar is known for his outstanding achievements as a television producer extraordinaire. He is well respected for increasing the ratings for shows such as “Question Time” and “On the Record,” on CVM Television in the late 1990’s. In 2003, because of his success as a television producer, he was selected to journey to Wales as Jamaica’s representative to “Claiming the Future – The Commonwealth Workshop on Voter Participation and Young People,” where he was one of fifty young representatives from around the globe, whose views were sought on political and economic issues affecting the world’s youth population. Edgar has also worked as a writer and producer at the Jamaica Information Service and as the senior producer for TVJ’s premier current affairs program, “Your Issues Live”. Edgar is currently CEO of EL Concepts a Production and Management company with over 20 years’ experience in marketing, promotions and media planning. Edgar was previously the Communications Coordinator for Nestle Jamaica, where he spearheaded and lent support to numerous marketing projects in Jamaica and the Caribbean. Edgar was also a freelance Communications and Customer Service consultant whose clients included DECS Waste Management Services, where his team helped make the company a household name in Jamaica and the Caribbean. Edgar is the founder of the Fortis Pavilion, an organization dedicated to assisting staff and students at his alma mater, Kingston College. He is also a member of Shashamane Sunrise, a volunteer organization committed to the support of children education in the developing world where he served as PR Director and Secretary. Edgar has a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication.

Secretary

Nicola Hussey is an Executive Analyst at Broad Haven Associates. She is a customer service, sales and operations management professional with more than 15 years’ experience at the management level within the hospitality, telecommunications, financial and gaming Industries.    Her core competencies include; leadership & people management, creative & strategic thinking, project management and general management. In her previous role within the hospitality industry, Nicola was responsible for all aspects of the customer generation process including; identifying leads and converting them to clients.  She has developed and implemented organizational systems to add value and maximize performance. In this process Nicola has fostered relationships with key players within the Hospitality & Tourism industry including cruise lines, hotels, tour companies and DMCs.  She has formulated training manual, SOPs and other pertinent guidelines that are required to formalize the work structure.  It is through these efforts that the company’s client base has increased by 40% over a three (3) months period. Throughout her career Nicola has successfully managed several operational projects.  In her previous role Nicola worked as Operations Manager at one of the Caribbean’s largest gaming companies where she managed assets valuing over $40M.  Nicola innovatively guided and executed strategies including; special events, directed activities of highly engaged teams to provide effective frontline service in a highly competitive market and saw an increase in revenue performance of over 20%.   Nicola was also instrumental in the restructuring of the operations; cutting costs by 15% without adjusting the staff complement. Nicola Hussey has a BA in Language Communication and with a minor in Philosophy.

Founder, Life Director

Ras Mark Rose is a field engineer with Verizon Telecommunication Company in Manhattan, NY. He has 20 years experience in the respective field of communications. Mr. Rose attended Touro College where he successfully completed his studies and obtained a certificate in audio engineering. Being a communication specialist in the field has afforded him the opportunity to develop extraordinary interactive people skills. Ras Markos was formally a member of Striving Toward Economic Power (STEP) which raised money for various causes including, lupus, breast cancer and Sickle Cell Anemia (on behalf of the Cancer Society). Ras Markos is also the CEO of Time Travellers International, an entertainment company. An avid traveler, he has travelled to several countries in Africa, Europe, Latin America, North America and the Caribbean. Ras Markos is a founding member of Shashamane Sunrise Inc. His primary goal is to enhance the quality of life for children around the world regardless of race, creed or gender. To motivate, encourage and boost morale will enable each child to perform at a higher level both socially and academically. He firmly believes that success comes when preparation meets opportunity. He is a Life Director and non-voting Board Member.
