School Report: Fishing Pond Primary School

Report on Fishing Pond Primary School, Trinidad & Tobago Visit 2016

In the 2014-2015 academic year, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to aid Fishing Pond Primary School through mentorship and   donations and continue to strive for excellence in academics and in extracurricular activities. We continue to monitor enrollment and graduating rates and work in conjunction with the principal and staff to ensure our efforts will impact the students so that they may continue to thrive. Currently, FP1there are a total of 129 students: 66 boys and 63 girls.

Over the past two years, we have been able to maintain commendable National Test scores of 364 and 361, respectively. There was a noticeable drop in 2015-2016 test scores to 319 due to major electrical issues that plagued the school. Our students are involved  in many extracurricular activities, such as karate, cricket, and football, as well as other various sports. Two (2) students are presently in the Finals of the Presbyfest Competition in the categories of Recitation and Soloist, and they’ve successfully competed in athletics at the National Primary Schools’ Athletic Competition.

FP2Our target  is to assist with infrastructural improvements to the school, in an effort to foster sustainable progress among the student population. We will also work with the principal and with teachers to develop a five-year strategic plan and set key priorities. Increasing National Test scores is at the top of this list.

Fishing Pond Primary School looks forward to its continued work with Shashamane so that we may achieve our goals. The students can’t wait to attend Shash’s upcoming summer camp. In past years, it has been one of the most enjoyable experiences for our students. They’ve been able to meet and be mentored by leaders in many fields, inspiring our students to dream big.
